Paula Phelan

Kildare native, Paula, is a coach, musician and evaluation specialist. Paula completed her undergraduate BAmus degree in NUI Maynooth. She holds an MA Baroque Performance Practice from Queen&’s University Belfast, an MA in Arts Administration and Cultural Policy from University College Dublin, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from NUI Maynooth, a Postgraduate Diploma in Early Childhood Music from Birmingham City, and a 1 st class honours PGDip in Personal and Management Coaching from UCC.

Having over 25 years’ experience in the cultural/corporate sector, Paula has worked as a freelance musician, Area Manager for Aldi Stores Ltd, a Secondary School music teacher, the Programme Director of Music Generation Carlow, CEO of Belvedere Youth Service, Head of Quality Support and Development for Music Generation and Chief Executive of VISUAL arts centre in Carlow. Paula is founder and Chief Executive of Traverso Coaching and Learning and now works to support those working in the arts to gain clarity and forge aligned, purposeful and enriching lives. 

Paula has passion for and experience working with individuals and teams in Arts and Community settings. Paula's work uses a narrative coaching approach to support individuals and teams to reflect on the stories they carry about themselves. Paula supports people to unpick what drives those stories and develop new insight that may support change. Paula is compassionately fierce but also fiercely compassionate and crafts the safest of spaces for individuals or teams to try out new ways of thinking, being and doing.
