Sarah Browne

I am an artist concerned with spoken and unspoken, bodily experiences of knowledge, labour and justice. My practice involves sculpture, film, performance and public projects. While rooted in a visual art background, I often develop work with artists of other disciplines and bring together people of differing formal and informal expertise (children, lawyers, poets) to establish a new community of knowledge through artmaking. My work has been commissioned by or exhibited at institutions such as Project Arts Centre, CREATE, Artangel, CCA Derry~Londonderry, Liverpool Biennial and Bergen Assembly.

I completed a Masters in Gender Studies in 2018 (UCD School of Social Policy, Social Work and Social Justice). Since qualifying as a coach in 2022, my emergent coaching practice draws deeply on the experience of listening, translation and collaboration integral to my artwork. As a coach I aim to create and hold an affirmative space for disabled, gender non-conforming and otherwise marginalised experiences. While I have previously lectured in third level art institutions and continue to work as a mentor to a small number of practitioners, I am excited by the dynamic and non- hierarchal role of the coach to support individuals and organisations to think and move creatively through their work.
